Overview
Many municipal waterworks do not carry out permanent disinfection of drinking water. In many cases, however, so-called emergency chlorination is used. In this process, which is activated as required, chlorine is added to the drinking water as a disinfectant. As soon as chlorine is dosed into the water, compliance with the legal limit values at the outlet must be monitored. State-of-the-art online measuring technology makes it possible to continuously monitor the limit values in the process and to precisely dose the chlorine. Safe transmission of the measured values to the control room enables the disinfection process to be controlled centrally and the chlorine dosing to be automated as far as possible.
To meet those requirements, KROHNE offers a tailored solution for chlorine measurement with wireless communication. The solution offers wireless transmission of free chlorine, pH, temperature or other readings via a licence-free transmission system (Radioline gateway). Remote data transmission is continuous for the corresponding analogue signals (4...20 mA). Its transmission range of up to 20 km / 12.4 mi from one station to another makes this solution the ideal choice for infrastructure applications. The range can be extended by the use of intervening stations as each station amplifies the signal to the control panel as a repeater. Latest encryption standards provide data security.
